Stop Harper’s Cuts
Join a city-wide meeting to plan resistance against austerity
7PM, THURSDAY, SEPT 8
CUPW OFFICE, 377 BANK ST, OTTAWA
Canada’s not broke.
The Harper government and governments around the world have manufactured a false economic crisis. They claim soaring debts mean jobs, pensions, and services must be gutted, while spending record-breaking billions of dollars on corporate tax breaks, slush funds, and war.
The unprecedented use and abuse of back to work legislation in June was just a preview of the kinds of attacks on the labour movement we can expect in the Harper majority era.
Now Harper plans to eliminate 80,000 public sector jobs (1/3 of the public service) according to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives’ analysis of the 2011 federal budget.
When Harper and Canada Post attacked our brothers and sisters at CUPW, together we fought back.
Join us for this important meeting on September 8 to begin mobilizing to stop Harper’s planned cuts to public services and attacks on workers rights.
